The Barcelona Zettascale Lab (BZL) successfully participated in the SC24 conference, held from November 19 to 22, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Miquel Moretó and Mateo Valero represented BZL, showcasing the latest advancements in RISC-V architectures and their impact on high-performance computing.

This participation underscored BZL’s commitment to innovation and international collaboration in the field of supercomputing.

During the event, advancements in the development of RISC-V-based processors were presented, including the Sargantana chip, the third generation of open-source processors designed entirely at BSC. This development reinforces BSC’s leading position in RISC-V open-source computing technology research in Europe.

Additionally, the role of RISC-V in high-performance computing (HPC) was discussed, highlighting how its open architecture enables collaboration between companies and institutions, reducing technological dependence on large multinational corporations.

This participation underscores BZL’s commitment to innovation and international collaboration in the field of supercomputing.
